Compost Queen is taking a bold step toward its Road to Zero Waste and Climate Action goals—and you’re invited to be part of it!
Compost Queen, in partnership with The City of Fort Collins, is launching a one-year Food Waste Composting Pilot Program. To celebrate and answer your questions, we’re hosting a community open house at Ginger & Baker on September 23rd.
🎉 Why Attend?
- Learn how you can recycle food waste at $5/month for drop-off or $10/month for curbside service—thanks to subsidies from the City’s Bag Ordinance and Compost Queen.
- Get hands-on support with enrollment and answers to your questions about composting at home or in your business.
- Enjoy light refreshments and a signature pink mocktail (while supplies last!).
- Hear brief remarks from Compost Queen and City of Fort Collins staff about how this program will help divert 165 tons of food waste and prevent the equivalent of 250,000 miles of car emissions in just one year.
- Access translation services and technical assistance so everyone in our community can participate.
✨ Who Can Join the Pilot?
- Up to 600 Fort Collins residents and 20 local businesses will be selected.
- You must be a new Compost Queen customer living in or owning a business in Fort Collins.
- All housing types are welcome—apartments, condos, mobile homes, single-family residences, and more.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a community-wide effort that not only reduces landfill waste but also returns valuable nutrients to our soils, strengthens our local circular economy, and helps Fort Collins lead the way in climate action.

🌍 About the Pilot Program
The Food Waste Composting Pilot is made possible by funding from the City of Fort Collins Disposable Bag Ordinance and Compost Queen’s local match. The program will run October 2025–October 2026, offering subsidized composting services for residents and businesses.
