Looking for what to do with all your leaves this season? We recommend you let the leaves stay as long as you can, but if you’ve got some material you have to clear, Compost Queen can help!
Food Waste Recycling customers with Compost Queen get FREE leaf drop offs throughout the year. It’s one of the perks of recycling your organics with us, including free compost twice a year!
On Saturday, November 4, Compost Queen will hold free and unlimited leaf drop-off day at Back Gate Farm (1505 N. College Ave) for Compost Queen customers only. Please bring your leaves from deciduous trees between 11am-2pm. We will only accept leaves (and leafy plants) bagged in brown paper bags, and unbagged leaves loaded into trucks and trailers.
Dropped leaves are an excellent, carbon-rich feedstock to transform your food scraps into treasure. Please avoid bringing sticks, pine needles, and bindweed to this event.
Additional leaf drop-off days will be announced for early spring.
Not a Compost Queen subscriber? Join today! Your leaves and pumpkins may inspire you to divert them from the landfill, but what about those food scraps you make every day? Ends of lettuce, butts of the onions, or even the leftovers from making broth – these items generate greenhouse gasses when they rot in the landfill. The average person makes over 1,000 lbs of greenhouse gas emission per year, just from eating!
